What is Morpheus 8?

Morpheus 8 is a fractional skin treatment that combines Microneedling with Radio Frequency technology to stimulate collagen production of the underlying layers of the skin. By targeting the subdermal tissue, the building blocks will reorganise themselves in a natural anti-ageing process. 

Morpheus 8 works by creating micro-injuries on the skin using titanium microneedles, coupled with radiofrequency energy that heats the layers deep to the skin. This revolutionary new device stimulates the increase of elastin and collagen production while tightening connective fibres to lift, firm, smooth and contour the face and body. How does Morpheus 8 work?

The head has 24 coated pins which penetrate the sub-dermal tissue. The microneedles make small punctures in the skin, which trigger a wound healing response to repair the skin cells. As a result, there is increased production of the skin’s vital collagen and elastin. Also, the device precisely releases Radio Frequency energy to coagulate fat and heat the tissues, making them contract so that the overlying skin tightens.

A course of 1-3 treatments at 4-6 week intervals with Morpheus 8 can smooth, sculpt and rejuvenate your appearance. Morpheus8 most commonly treated areas include the lower face and neck. Areas of the face and body that exhibit wrinkles, discolouration or acne scarring are suitable for treatment.

Morpheus 8 FAQ’s

Does it hurt?
You may feel a pinching or burning sensation when the treatment is being administered. However, a topical anaesthetic cream will be used to make the treatment more comfortable for you.

How many treatments do I need and when will I see results?
It is recommended to have 1-3 sessions, 4-6 weeks apart. Visible results can be seen within a few days after the treatment , but typically after 3 weeks the most noticeable results appear as the process of collagen and elastin production to tighten the area naturally take a few weeks to complete. Improvements continue up to 3 months after treatment. Results last between 6-12 months and we recommend a single maintenance session every 6 months. This is just a guide as individual results can vary.

Are there any side effects?
There are some injection related reactions which may occur after any injection; they typically resolve spontaneously within a few days. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the treatment site. Small bumps may appear on the face immediately after the treatment, but these will subside within 2-24 hours, like any other form of microneedling treatment.

What kind of post-procedure care is required?

Avoid touching and applying any cream or makeup on the treated areas for 12 hours. After that, patients should moisturise and use SPF 50+ on the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. Make-up can be applied 1 to 2 days after the treatment.
