What is Regenera Activa and Micrograft Treatment?

Regenera Activa is a rejuvenation and tissue renewal treatment that uses a unique combination of stem cell precursors, growth factors and progenitor cells. These cells are obtained in a minimally invasive manner from the patient’s own body and re-introduced into the area to be treated. Various fields of medicine use this procedure, such as aesthetic dermatology, trichology, plastic surgery, orthopaedics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, etc.

The process is minimally invasive and involves 3 steps

1) Harvesting graft tissue (around 2.5ml) using a small biopsy tool, usually from the nape of the neck

2) Treating the harvested samples to a filtration process which extract the most concentrated growth factors, stem cell precursors and progenitor cells

3) Injecting the cells to the area to be treated.

Regenera Activa is a safe and effective technique to treat androgenetic alopecia and skin rejuvenation. When used for the scalp, this treatment aims to halt the process of androgenetic alopecia or hair loss and revitalise the existing hair follicles into generating new hair, using the healing power of an individual’s own cells. These are called progenitor cells – which can be pushed to differentiate into their “target” cells. This characteristic makes it possible for them to turn into active follicular cells. Essentially, Regenera Activa is a micrografting technique that uses a specialised patented tool to deliver progenitor cells into target areas so they may proceed to repair tissue compromised by androgenetic alopecia.

Progenitor cells, stem cell precursors and growth factors that have regenerative abilities are isolated from the sampled tissue and introduced to the target areas of the scalp, initiating the repair process – blood vessel formation in skin and regeneration of hair follicles.

At The PRP Lab., we believe in combination treatments and occasionally mix PRP with the Regenara Activa - this is an even more concentrated combination of micrograft and growth factors, injected into the scalp or face in order to initiate the regenerative processes.

What areas can be treated with Regenera Activa?

SCALP

Regenary Activa can be used to treat one of the most frustrating and common concerns for both men and women, hair loss. The treatment involves harvesting the natural growth factors and stem cell precursors in a tissue sample, and reintroducing them to feed the hair follicle. This minimally invasive procedure promotes healthy hair growth, and reduces hair loss.

Regenera Activa FAQ’s

Does it hurt?
Before the tissue biopsy is taken, local anaesthetic is applied to the nape of the neck. It may be slightly uncomfortable but not unbearable.

How many treatments and how often is this therapy needed?
Regenera is a one-time treatment and this continues to boost hair growth for over 2 years in some cases. As there is no permanent solution for androgenetic hair loss as of yet, it is impossible to claim that Regenera will last forever, however, it is long lasting.

What results can I expect from Regenera Activa?
As the natural process of reactivation takes place and hair begins to grow, results become visible about 30 days after a single session. However, overall effectiveness may vary from one individual to another, as it depends on the regenerative capacity of the body and also on how far the condition had progressed to begin with. Significant results are usually seen 6 month post treatment.

Are there possible side effects with Regenera Activa?
This treatment uses only your own tissue/cells - it is not possible to be allergic to it or come across issues such as rejection. It is important to ensure the puncture site (at nape of the neck) is treated like a regular wound and kept clean to avoid any chances of infection.

How long do results last?
A single session of Regenera continues to boost hair growth for over 2 years in some cases. While the procedure gets hair regeneration activated to begin with, it is important to support and promote the progressive growth of healthy hair in terms of coverage and strength. For optimum results, we need to maintain hair health with our bespoke services like PRP and/or Mesotherapy. Each case is very unique - using specialist diagnostic tools, we can tailor treatments to suit your specific hair loss pattern.
