What are Skin Boosters?
At The PRP Lab., we offer a range of skin boosters for different conditions. Our range includes Profhilo, Exosomes, Polynucleotides and Hyaluronic acid. Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to hydrate and rejuvenate the skin from within. Unlike traditional Dermal Fillers that aim to add volume or contour the face, skin boosters focus on improving the skin's texture, hydration, and quality.
Profhilo
Profhilo® is a revolutionary 'beneath the skin' hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment for the face, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into face, Profhilo® stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin.
Where conventional hyaluronic acid products are aimed at restoring lost volume in specific areas, Profhilo® is not designed to plump or add volume. Instead, Profhilo® is designed to repair the scaffolding under the skin in order to remodel the skins structure, treating skin laxity and restoring firmness over a larger area. Overall, clients can usually expect increased firmness, hydration and elasticity giving overall improved quality of skin, with effects lasting around 6 months.
Exosomes
Exosomes are nature's own communication system, tiny vesicles that carry messages between cells to promote repair and regeneration. Extracted from stem cells, these powerful messengers are loaded with growth factors, proteins, and RNA that work together to stimulate your skin's natural healing processes. Our advanced Exosomes treatments stimulate collagen synthesis, reducing fine lines and wrinkles while promoting firmness and elasticity for a youthful complexion. By regulating pigment production, exosomes fade dark spots and blemishes, resulting in a more even skin tone. Our therapy refines skin texture, leaving it soft, supple, and smooth, while unlocking your skin's natural luminosity for a radiant, healthy glow that emanates from within.
Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides are long chain molecules made up of nucleotides, which are the basic building blocks of DNA and RNA. In the context of skin rejuvenation, Polynucleotide treatments aim to harness the regenerative and healing properties of these molecules to improve skin health and appearance. Polynucleotides can also be used for hair loss - by promoting the proliferation of cells within the hair follicles, leading to the stimulation of hair growth. By activating the scalp's fibroblasts, Polynucleotides can encourage the production of new hair cells and strengthen existing hair. By enhancing hydration and providing an anti-inflammatory effect, polynucleotides can improve the overall health of the scalp. A healthier scalp environment is crucial for supporting robust hair growth and preventing hair loss.
Skin Boosters Before & Afters
Skin boosters are ideal if you have lax, crepey, thin, sun-damaged skin on your face, neck, décolleté, arms and hands. Skin boosters can significantly improve your skins hydration and firmness whilst remodelling your ageing skin.

How does Profhilo® work?
Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin. As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.
Profhilo® is not a dermal filler, it is different from all other injectable substances as it has been engineered for “skin bio remodelling”. It is biocompatible because it is composed of highly pure grade hyaluronic acid produced by bio fermentation. This treatment enables effective production of both your natural collagen and also your elastin which enables your skin to renew successfully, from within, resulting in significant tightening / lifting effects. Due to its intensively high purity and the absence of additives, Profhilo® offers greater safety and therefore reduced side effects.
For the face, we use the BAP technique with 5 injection sites on each side of the face to maximise the diffusion of the hyaluronic acid.
Benefits of Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides are long chains of nucleotides, which are the basic building blocks of DNA and RNA. They offer several mechanisms for skin rejuvenation:
Hydration: Polynucleotides have a high water-binding capacity, which helps to deeply hydrate the skin, improving elasticity and reducing the appearance of fine lines.
Stimulation of Collagen Production: By stimulating fibroblasts, Polynucleotides encourage the production of collagen, essential for maintaining the skin's firmness and elasticity, thus reducing wrinkles and sagging.
Anti-inflammatory Effects: The anti-inflammatory properties of Polynucleotides help in reducing redness and swelling, beneficial for treating various skin conditions and improving skin texture.
Antioxidant Properties: They protect the skin from oxidative stress and damage by neutralizing free radicals, which can lead to premature aging.
Enhancing Repair and Regeneration: Polynucleotides can accelerate the skin's healing processes, aiding in the repair of damaged skin cells, which is particularly useful after aesthetic procedures.
How do Exosomes work?
Exosomes are extracellular vesicles released by cells that facilitate communication between cells. They carry proteins, lipids, and RNA molecules, influencing various physiological processes. For skin rejuvenation, exosomes work through:
Cell Communication: Exosomes transfer genetic information and proteins to target cells, promoting cellular activities beneficial for skin repair and rejuvenation.
Promoting Collagen Production: Like Polynucleotides, exosomes can also stimulate collagen production, enhancing the skin's structural integrity and reducing signs of aging.
Wound Healing and Tissue Repair: They play a significant role in the body's healing processes, including cutaneous regeneration, by promoting the repair of damaged skin tissue.
Reducing Inflammation: Exosomes have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help in managing skin conditions characterized by inflammation and promoting a more even skin tone.
Modulating Immune Responses: By influencing immune cell behavior, exosomes can help in creating a more conducive environment for skin regeneration and healing.
Skin Boosters FAQ’s
Does it hurt?
You may feel a slight pinching or burning sensation when the injections are administered. However, a topical anesthetic cream can be used to make the treatment virtually painless.
What areas can be treated with skin boosters?
Skin boosters can be used on various parts of the body, but they are most commonly applied to the face, neck, décolletage, and hands. These areas tend to show signs of aging more prominently and benefit significantly from the hydration and rejuvenation skin boosters provide.
How many treatments do I need and when will I see results?
It is recommended to have multiples sessions to achieve the maximum results. This will depend on your particular concerns and can be discussed with the practitioner during the consultation. Results are usually seen 2-3 weeks after the first session.
How long do the results last?
The effects of skin boosters can last up to 6 months, depending on the individual's skin type, lifestyle, and how well they maintain their skin post-treatment. Regular maintenance sessions are recommended to prolong the results.
Are there any side effects?
There are some injection related reactions which may occur after any injection; they typically resolve spontaneously within a few days. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site.
Can skin boosters be combined with other treatments?
Yes, skin boosters can be combined with other cosmetic treatments like PRP, Morpheus8 and Microneedling for a comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation. It's important to consult with one of our practitioners to determine the best treatment plan for you.
