About this test

An untreated sexually transmitted disease (STD) can lead to extremely serious medical conditions. It can also lead to the spreading of the disease through further sexual intercourse with new partners. That's why it's vital to be checked if you think you have contracted an infection. The urine test checks for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, whilst the blood test checks for many of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in both male and female, including syphilis, hepatitis B and C.

The blood test also checks for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV 1 and 2) -the virus that destroys the white blood cells that can fight incoming infections. We strongly recommend this test if you are a male and have intercourse with other men, or if you are a man and have slept with multiple partners.

Who is this test for?

This test of for individuals who fear that they may have become exposed to an STD through unprotected intercourse, or whose partner may have been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease or who is showing symptoms consistent with an STD.
